Don’t expect to see the Bengals select an offensive tackle with their first pick."The Bengals have a big need at offensive tackle. I know that Tyler Kroft Jersey , you know that, the problem is they don’t know that. With the re-signing of Bobby Hart, the Bengals have accepted the status quo for the time being at the tackle position. This is a great year to need an offensive tackle. While there is no NFL draft prospect who is a legitimate contender for a top-five pick at the position, there are a handful who should receive consideration in the top half of the first round. This includes prospects such as Florida’s Jawaan Taylor, Oklahoma’s Jonah Williams, Washington State’s Andre Dillard, and Twitter’s — I mean Kansas State’s Dalton Risner. On top of that, there are so many talented edge rushers like Florida State’s Brian Burns, Mississippi State’s Montez Sweat, and Michigan’s Rashan Gary that some of these talented tackles could get pushed back. Pair this with the fact that two or three quarterbacks WILL go in the top 10, and the Bengals are in a great position to get a starter at right tackle. The only problem is they already have their starter. The Bengals re-signed Hart, and are paying him like a starter. It is true that the Bengals could cut him in a year without a major cap hit John Miller Jersey , but the money isn’t the only factor here. Both head coach Zac Taylor and offensive line coach Jim Turner have vocally supported Hart. Troy Blackburn didn’t so much defend the player as the move to re-sign him. While doing so he said, “Oh, maybe you’ll draft one in the 3rd Round and he’ll come on,” which just goes to show you, that even before officially bring Hart back, they may not’ve been seriously thinking about taking a tackle with the 11th overall.Yes, the Bengals have a need for a starting right tackle. Yes, there is a possibility that Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver and LSU linebacker Devin White are off the board when they’re on the clock. Yes, that very well could mean the best available player will be an offensive tackle who could come in and start over Hart. No, they will not take one in the first round. Instead, the Bengals seem to be zeroing in on the linebacker position, so a player like Michigan’s Devin Bush makes a lot of sense. Blackburn may have slipped a bit with his third round comment Alex Redmond Jersey , as that may be the first real chance of seeing the Bengals select an offensive tackle. This does not mean the Bengals will not draft an offensive tackle at all. After losing Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher in free agency, they lack any and all depth at the position. They will likely draft one or two offensive tackles, but probably not until rounds three or four. They will look for players who they can develop for depth and a possible replacement for Hart and/or Cordy Glenn down the line when they hit the free agent market. Bengals fans should prepare themselves mentally for another year of Bobby Hart at right tackle. Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone might need to update his contact list.Marrone said Monday he finally spoke to star cornerback Jalen Ramsey, who is skipping voluntary workouts to stay closer to home, and seemingly cleared the air. Marrone said last week that he reached out to Ramsey and didn't get a response. As it turned out, Marrone had the wrong number for the two-time Pro Bowl defender. It was the latest twist in a weeklong saga that included public shots from Tom Coughlin , Ramsey's agent and the NFL Players Association."Had a great talk," Marrone said. "He's training with his brother. He's in Nashville. He's spending time with his family. He said he's going to come back in the best shape he's ever been in and he's all fired up. That was pretty much the conversation. It was a good conversation. I was concerned, obviously, because I was texting a number I thought was his and he wasn't getting back to me."I couldn't figure out what was going on, so we kind of had a little laugh about it. Now I have the right number. He's always had my number, so it's good."Marrone said he and retired NFL tight end Marcus Pollard Bobby Hart Jersey , the team's director of player development, both had the wrong number for Ramsey and didn't realize it until after Coughlin ripped Ramsey and linebacker Telvin Smith for their absences. Marrone also said Ramsey had been in contact with his position coach, Tim Walton.Coughlin, the team's executive vice president of football operations, criticized Ramsey and Smith during the team's state of the franchise presentation Thursday. He said "championship teams are dominated by selfless individuals who recognize that the welfare of the team must always be paramount to any other consideration.""Success in the NFL demands struggle," Coughlin added. "Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish and insensitive to the real values of team. The hard work that many try to avoid is the major building block for the development of an outstanding football team."It's not about rights and privileges. It's about obligations and responsibility. And the question is, can we count on you? Doing things the right way all the time, we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence therefore is not an act, but a habit."NFLPA President Eric Winston reacted by saying the Collective Bargaining Agreement's definition of voluntary "is the same as the actual definition of voluntary and prohibits anyone from threatening players to participate in voluntary workouts."Ramsey and his agent, David Mulugheta, responded on social media the following day.Coughlin backed down a bit Monday."There's really no need to speak any further on that one Alex Redmond Jersey ," he said. "That was an open statement about my beliefs about what the offseason programs are about. That's enough. You're not going to get me to answer any more on that one."Ramsey and Smith are the team's only players who didn't show up for the start of the team's offseason program. Marrone said Monday he still hasn't heard back from Smith, adding "he's probably busy."Marrone made it clear he views the workouts as voluntary."I try to keep reminding myself that, and we appreciate the players that are here," Marrone said. "That's what you have to do. If you treat them like they should be here, then that gets tough. The NFLPA collectively bargained that it's a volunteer period, and those players have an option. And the ones that are here we appreciate and we're working with them, trying to get them better."
