At first, the Giants weren’t interested at all in Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins. A week later, and it’s “don’t believe the smoke screens. No team has done more homework on Haskins than the Giants.” That would be very good news for the San Francisco 49ers. The Giants own the sixth overall pick. After trading Odell Beckham Jr., they now own the 17th overall pick. I don’t know what the additional compensation would be http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-earl-mitchell-jersey , but for this let’s just say the 49ers now are sitting at six and 17 after making the trade. This could be exactly what John Lynch was talking about when he mentioned free agency set the team up for the draft. This opens a whole new can of worms that we weren’t expecting to talk about. At six you can all but kiss Quinnen Williams goodbye. You’re likely looking at Rashan Gary out of Michigan, Montez Sweat of Mississippi State, Ed Oliver of Houston, and Brian Burns of Florida State. That’s just the guys on the defensive line that are floating around pick six in mock drafts. Down to 17, and it’s take your pick. Any safety you want will be there. I’m not sure there’s a receiver worth it there. Especially with what Shanahan is capable of. If the team is to pull the trigger on this trade, I’d double down on defense. Whether that’s pass rush, safety, corner Womens Garry Gilliam Jersey , just bring good players to the defense and figure it out later. That extra first might be too tempting to pass up. What do you think? We are 73 days until the 2019 NFL Draft, which means we have plenty more mocks to get through. Things continue to stay consistent on the top-three picks and that should change little until the NFL Combine gets going in a couple of weeks. We have another mock draft today, put together via Sporting News’ Vinnie Iyer and it’s not much that we haven’t seen before. Iyer sends Quinnen Williams to the Arizona Cardinals, a pick that is starting to get some traction. Here’s what he says about the pick: Of course, the Williams pick opens things up for Nick Bosa to go to the San Francisco 49ers. As you know, the position, need, and fit could not be any better. Here’s what Iyer says about Bosa to the 49ers. Interestingly enough http://www.49erslockerroom.com/authentic-steve-young-jersey , the New York Jets, who sit at No. 3, do not take Josh Allen with this pick, instead they grab Alabama offensive tackle Jonah Williams. Josh Allen goes to the Oakland Raiders at No. 4. So Oakland offloaded Khalil Mack for a boatload of picks and get his replacement the very next year. And for you quarterback-curious folk out there, Dwayne Haskins falls to the New York Giants at No. 6. Either this or Josh Allen/Quinnen Williams pick seem to be the consensus for the 49ers going into the NFL Combine so it will be interesting to see how the mock drafts shape up in the next two weeks.
